Canada 1967 featuring “Canada’s Centennial Definitive Series”. Set of 6 Stamps Scott#: 461, 462, 463, 464, 465 and 465a These are six stamps from Canada's Centennial Definitives, which feature landscape paintings by various Canadian artists, including members of the Group of Seven. • The first is a 20 "The Ferry, Quebec" stamp, featuring a design based on a painting by the renowned Canadian artist James Wilson Morrice. It was part of Canada's Centennial Definitives series, which replaced existing high-value stamps to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Confederation. Design: The blue-toned image depicts a ferry crossing the St. Lawrence River near Quebec City, with a horse-drawn sled visible in the foreground. • The second is a 25 "The Solemn Land" stamp, part of Canada's Centennial Definitives series issued to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Confederation. The design is based on a 1921 oil painting by J.E.H. MacDonald, a founding member of the Group of Seven. • The third is an 8 “Alaskan Highway” based on the painting Alaska Highway between Watson Lake and Nelson by Group of Seven artist A.Y. Jackson. • The fourth is a 15 “Bylot Island” based on the painting Bylot Island by Group of Seven artist Lawren Harris. • The fifth is a 50 “Summer’s Stores” based on the painting by John Ensor, it depicts prairie grain elevators and a railway siding. • The sixth is a 10 “The Jack Pine” based on the famous painting The Jack Pine by Tom Thomson.
