Canada 1983 "Canadian Forts". Pane of 10 Stamps Scott#: 992a. Mint - Very Fine Never Hinged (M-VFNH) This is a booklet pane of 10 stamps from the Canadian Forts - 1 series, issued by Canada Post in 1983. Each stamp features a different historic Canadian fortification depicted in a bird's-eye view. Stamp Identification Scott Number: 992a (representing the entire booklet pane of 10). Issue Date: June 30, 1983. This 1983 booklet pane (Scott #992a) features ten different historic fortifications across Canada. The stamps are arranged in two rows of five, each showcasing a unique architectural style and strategic history. Top Row (Left to Right) Fort Henry (Ontario): Located in Kingston, this "Citadel of Upper Canada" was built to protect the naval dockyards from potential American attacks. Fort Prince of Wales (Manitoba): A massive stone star-fort built by the Hudson’s Bay Company on the shores of Hudson Bay to protect the fur trade. Fort Langley (British Columbia): A key Hudson’s Bay Company fur trading post on the Fraser River, often called the "Birthplace of British Columbia." Fort Anne (Nova Scotia): Located in Annapolis Royal, this site was the center of numerous conflicts between the French and British for control of Acadia. Fort Amherst (Prince Edward Island): Built by the British after the fall of Louisbourg to secure control over the island (then known as Île Saint-Jean). Bottom Row (Left to Right) Fortress of Louisbourg (Nova Scotia): A massive French reconstruction on Cape Breton Island, once one of the busiest seaports in North America. Quebec Citadel (Quebec): Known as the "Gibraltar of the Americas," this active military installation remains the secondary residence of the Governor General. Fort Wellington (Ontario): Built during the War of 1812 to defend the St. Lawrence River shipping route between Montreal and Kingston. Halifax Citadel (Nova Scotia): A star-shaped hill fort overlooking Halifax Harbour, designed to defend the city’s vital naval station. Fort Beauséjour (New Brunswick): A French fort captured by the British in 1755, a pivotal event leading to the expulsion of the Acadians. All information provided herein is considered accurate.
