Canada 1965 Five-Cent Coin (Small Beads and Attached Jewels) This is a 1965 Canada Five-Cent (Small Beads and Attached Jewels). This specific year is famous because the Royal Canadian Mint changed its production methods, leading to distinct variations on both the front and back of the coin. Meaning of "Small Beads" vs. "Large Beads" The "beads" refer to the tiny, raised decorative dots that form a circular border running along the inside edge of the coin's rim. In 1965, two different reverse (back) dies were used, creating two varieties: Large Beads: The dots are visibly larger and sit very close to the outer rim. Small Beads: The dots are noticeably smaller, crisper, and have a distinct, clear gap separating them from the outer rim. Meaning of "Attached Jewels" vs. "Detached Jewels" This term refers to the front (obverse) portrait of Queen Elizabeth II wearing a laurel wreath. At the very back of her head, the wreath is secured by a small bow with two hanging decorative jewels (or ribbon ends) draped against her hair. Detached Jewels: Due to a standard die design, the tiny jewels look like they are floating slightly away from the back of her hair. Attached Jewels: On these specific dies, the jewels are pressed completely flush against the hair, appearing firmly attached to her head line. All information provided herein is considered accurate. It is the buyer's responsibility to verify its accurateness. As shown and as is. The pictures are part of the description. Pickup category timeslot {A}
