Canada 2005 Five-Cent Coin (“P & Victory”) This is a 2005 Canada Five-Cent (“P & Victory”) coin. This special circulation commemorative coin marks the 60th anniversary of the Allied Victory in World War II (1945–2005). It brings back Thomas Shingles' beautiful wartime design that originally appeared on Canadian nickels from 1943 to 1945. Meaning of "Victory" The design elements on the reverse side of this coin are highly symbolic of the global war effort: The Large "V": Serves a dual purpose. It represents Winston Churchill's famous "V for Victory" hand sign and also stands as the Roman numeral 5, indicating the coin's 5-cent face value. The Burning Torch: Positioned inside the V, the flaming torch is an emblem of the sacrifice made by soldiers and citizens to achieve peace. The Morse Code Rim: Just like the original 1940s coins, the inner rim features a message hidden in international Morse code. If you decode the dots and dashes, it spells out: "WE WIN WHEN WE WORK WILLINGLY". Meaning of the "P" Composition Mark The letter "P" (located on the front / obverse side underneath Queen Elizabeth II's portrait) stands for Plated. While the original 1945 coin was struck out of necessity on chromium-plated steel, this 2005 tribute coin uses the Mint's modern Multi-Ply Plated Steel composition. This means the coin has a steel base core covered with thin, uniform electroplated layers of copper and nickel. The "P" mark was standard for this year to help automated vending machines distinguish it from older solid-alloy nickels. All information provided herein is considered accurate. It is the buyer's responsibility to verify its accurateness. As shown and as is. The pictures are part of the description. Pickup category timeslot {A}
