This bird is carved from stone with a perforated jailwork body, and a baby bird inside. Precision carving believed is believed to be a peahen (peacock mother), but may be a stylized swan, crane, or other type of bird. Would look very nice when backlit, as the light shines through. Appears to be in very good condition. There is a loose piece inside from time of carving, but is not damage to the work itself. You may be interested in lot 187 as it is a small owl with similar work.
