She studied at the College of Art in South Kensington where she received a diploma in architecture in 1913. Warren arrived in Canada in 1919 and lived in Ottawa until 1952 except for the years 1928-1934 which she spent in Montreal. She initially came to Canada to produce two large canvasses commissioned by Prime Minister Robert Borden during World War I. The works "Canada's Tribute, The Great War 1914-1919" and "Placing the Canadian Colours on Wolfe's Monument in Westminster Abbey" have been held at the Royal Military College of Canada in Kingston, Ontario since 1947. While in Canada, she traveled across the country giving lectures illustrated with lantern slides of her own work. She also lectured in Europe and the United States. She was recognised for her paintings of architectural subjects and lectured on the subject at Columbia University, New York, from 1933 to 1938. She also illustrated E.T. Cook's "Homes and Haunts of John Ruskin." Her work sold well in both Canada and England. https://cwahi.concordia.ca/sources/artists/displayArtist.php?ID_artist5863 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emily_Warren_%28artist%29 https://cowleyabbott.ca/artwork/AW33155 EMILY MARY BIBBENS WARREN (1869-1956) https://www.invaluable.com/auction-lot/emily-mary-bibbens-warren-canadian-1869-1956-an-e-104-c-mc9xoeyvhf Measurements: Frame 17.5" x 14" painting 11.5" x 8.5" Pickup category timeslot {A}
