Bleak House by Charles Dickens is the story of a long-running legal case in the Court of Chancery, Jarndyce and Jarndyce. It is one of Dickens most critically admired novels. The novel blends a complex murder mystery with scathing social commentary, told through Esther's first-person narration and an omniscient voice, revealing the devastating effects of greed and bureaucracy on lives. Dickens used the novel to satirize the inefficiency and corruption of the legal system, which helped support a judicial reform movement. It was first published as a 20-episode serial in 1852-1853. This is a 2012 printing of the novel. Softcover book. Charles John Huffam Dickens (1812 - 1870) was an English novelist, journalist, short story writer and social critic. He created some of literature's best-known fictional characters, and is regarded by many as the greatest novelist of the Victorian era. His works enjoyed unprecedented popularity during his lifetime and, by the 20th century, critics and scholars had recognised him as a literary genius. His novels and short stories are widely read today. Some of his greatest works include: A Christmas Carol. Oliver Twist, Great Expections, David Copperfield, Bleak House, and many more Dimensions: Approximately 5.5 x 8 inches. Pickup category timeslot {A}
