It follows the lives of Túrin and his sister Niënor, whose family is cursed by the first Dark Lord, Morgoth. The narrative explores themes of fate, free will, heroism, and the devastating consequences of the curse as Túrin attempts to defy his tragic destiny. This edition has illustrations by Alan Lee and contains an introduction, appendices on the story's history, and a map of Beleriand by Christopher Tolkien.
