Obverse shows the “Piedra del Sol” (Aztec Sun Stone), with Spanish legend “Banco De Mexico Pagara Un Peso A La vista al portador en efectivo.” (“Bank of Mexico Pay One Peso on sight to the bearer in cash.”). Reverse shows the Monumento a la Independencia (Monument to Independence) designed by architect Antonio Rivas Mercado and sculptor Enrique Alciati, with Black Seals and Spanish legend “Banco De Mexico.
