Lot #347: Three Vintage Canadian Pacific Railway C.P.R. “Octochrome” postcards

All cards are “Domestic One Cent”, “Octochrome” and unused. All cards bear reverse legend “Along the line of the Canadian Pacific Ry.” “Octochrome” was a trade name for a special type of postcard printed in Germany with superior German technology, but distributed in North America by the American News Company. The “Octochrome” cards were printed in black colotype over seven different lithographic tints, resulting in a sharp look with hard clean colours that emphasized blues and reds. Card #42578 “Takakkah Falls, Yoho Valley”. Card #47983 “Wapta Glacier, Yoho Valley” (marked “copyright 1904”). Card #42589 “Mountain Climbing in Canadian Rockies” (very interesting image!
