1953 Elizabeth II 5 Shilling Commemorative Coin and Perpetual Calendar for Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II 1953 The coin was minted to commemorate the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II, this five-shilling piece features an obverse design by the sculptor and engraver Gilbert Ledward RA. It features a portrait of Her Majesty mounted on her horse Winston, with The Queen dressed in her uniform as Colonel in Chief of the Grenadier Guards.  The reverse design features the four quarters of the Royal Arms, each depicted within a shield. In between each shield is one of the four emblems of the home nations – a rose, a thistle, a shamrock and a leek – and in the centre of the design is a crown. Inscribed around the edge of the coin are the words ‘FAITH AND TRUTH I WILL BEAR UNTO YOU’, which were included in the pledge of allegiance made by His Royal Highness Prince Philip The Duke of Edinburgh to The Queen during the coronation ceremony. The vintage perpetual calendar from 1953 to commemorate the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II. The decorated calendar features a picture of Queen Elizabeth II and many heraldic symbols and flags, and is made from an early white plastic possibly Bakelite and with glass front. Perfect gift for the Royalty buff or collector. The dates are changed by four knobs on the back of the calendar which moves a wheel to show the desired day, date and month.The sturdy metal stand on the back displayed sits perfectly on any flat surface. It measures 12.5cm (5 inches) wide by 17.5cm (7 inches) high, is only about 1cm (½ inch) deep. The dials all work well and condition overall is good vintage condition, with some signs of age as expected. This would have looked fantastic on any desk. Pickup category timeslot {A}
