Beautiful set of tables and chairs, they are not a matching set but both are in the style of Duncan Phyfe. The chairs are a lot older than the table which I reckon is a mid century reproduction. For the table. One of the chairs with no arms has a broken and miss back support as photographed. The seats are removable. I’ve provided as many photos as I can. The table has some water damage to polish on top. Both seem to be mahogany, table is french polished. Without a proper appraisal it is hard for me to tell the exact details on the chairs. Here are the measurements: Table measures normal width is 153cm, extended width is 190cm, Length is 89cm and height stands at 76cm Chair without arms measure 47.5cm W 83cm H and depth is 45cm Chairs with arms measure 54cm W 84cm H and 45cm depth Needs some restoration, been in the family for many decades. Some possible information on set of 6 antique chairs, Duncan Phyfe (1768-1854) was one of the most influential American furniture designers of the early 19th century. His neoclassical style, characterized by graceful lines and delicate ornamentation, became synonymous with refined taste and elegance. Phyfe's designs often incorporated elements of the Empire style, which was popular in France during the same period. Empire style furniture is characterized by its grandeur and formality, often featuring heavy proportions, rich materials, and classical motifs. Mahogany was a favored wood for Empire furniture, and upholstery fabrics were typically luxurious and ornate. The chair in the image appears to be influenced by both Duncan Phyfe and Empire styles, but it is difficult to determine the exact maker. Some information on possible table details: Duncan Phyfe was a renowned cabinetmaker working in New York City in the early 19th century. His name became synonymous with a distinct style of furniture characterized by graceful lines, delicate carvings, and classical motifs. Duncan Phyfe's designs often incorporated elements such as lyre-shaped backs, reeded legs, and claw feet. While the original Duncan Phyfe pieces are highly valuable, his style was widely imitated throughout the 19th and 20th centuries, leading to many reproduction and revival pieces. Mahogany was a favored wood for Duncan Phyfe style furniture due to its rich color and fine grain, which allowed for intricate detailing. The table in the image reflects these design principles, suggesting it is either a late example or a reproduction of the Duncan Phyfe style. Tables of this style were popular in dining rooms and were often used for formal occasions. The drop-leaf design allowed for flexibility in size, making it suitable for both small and large gatherings. Bring appropriate vehicle and help to move. Bring packing material. Bring help to move.
