Lot #230: Toronto Telegram & Vintage Eaton’s Items

This lot includes a great bit of Toronto and Canadian history. There is a complete copy of the last issue of the Toronto Telegram newspaper (Saturday, October 30, 1971), with all the inserts including the Weekend Comics, Weekend Magazine, Toronto Week TV guide and an Eaton’s advertising insert. The rest of the items are all related to Eaton’s – once the largest department store chain in the country. Founded in 1869, the chain declared bankruptcy in 1999. The following are either branded Eaton’s or were sold with by Eaton’s (price tag still attached) and include: (1) a Christmas 1975 Eaton’s catalogue (enjoy looking at the fashions, the toys & games, the furniture & home products and the prices!); (2) a Eaton’s CD with exclusive offers, news, web links and more; (3) a button celebrating Eaton’s 125th anniversary (1994); (4) a shoe horn; (5) a new/sealed set of 2 decks of Eaton’s playing cards with designs reproduced from the 1909 catalogues; (6) a set of 2 decks of playing cards made in Hong Kong for Eaton’s; and (7) a plush penguin toy imported by Eaton’s with an Eaton’s price tag still attached!
