Lot #86: Antique Japanese Gold Gilded SAMURAI tea set

Magnificient ART pieces Made in the Taisho to early Showa period - 1912-1926 The set is signed by Hittori (not sure of the makers last name) and was made in Yokohama Japan- ***there are two miniature cracks- see picks-on the inside of the toppers- not affecting the integrity of either piece The craftmanship is splendid- The gold gilding, designs, but the piece de resistance are all of the figures Emperor, concubines, children and Samurais, lots of Samurais- The set includes a Tea pot, cream with lid, sugar bowl, 5 saucers and 4 tea cups (1 saucer not shown-but in mint condition-extra) Tea Pot measures - 8 inches tall Sugar Bowl - 6 inches tall (highest point) Creamer - 4.4 inches tall Cups - 2.5 inches tall Saucers - 5 inches in diameter I believe these were also export items as they are made solid, there is crazing- i am not sure you would want to ose, but more or less set out as a wonderful display of great skill and subject content The Samurais stand tall, together parlaying with their Emperor...concubines, wives...life of a Samurai There are so many possibilities for stories I will say enjoy, for you will never find another set like it!
