Lot #687: Antique Ingraham Mantel Clock

This is an early 1900s mantel clock made by the E. Ingraham Company.  The company was founded by Elias Ingraham in 1831 and was a major American clock and watch manufacturer, headquartered in Bristol, Connecticut. The clock is housed in a black ebonized wood with faux marble detailing. It features a mechanical movement with Roman numerals on the dial. The clock includes a striking mechanism that chimes the hour and half-hour. Ornate gilded brass elements, including decorative corner accents and column capitals, adorn the case. The clock face is flanked by small, decorative panels featuring cherub designs. The clock was wound and runs for a bit and chimed, but unsure as to the overall condition of the mechanism. Newer screws on the back suggest maintenance or service at some point in time. Includes the winding key. Sold in 1911 by a jeweler in New York. Measures 17” x 8” x 11”. Bring packing material.
