Lot #1: Pair Original Artifort "Orange Slice" Chairs with Matching Footstools

Settle in, sit back, and soak up some mid-Century sunshine! Here are a pair of original Artifort Orange Slice Chairs designed by Pierre Paulin with their distinctive nubby upholstery, and metal tags attached to both chairs and matching footstools. Two identical "slices" make up the seat and backrest of each chair. The 4-legged steel base on each piece is finished in chrome. All pieces labeled. Note: minor wear and fading to one chair and stool. In 1958 Pierre Paulin became the designer for Artifort where he created a series of sculptural chairs with an inner structure of steel tubing, covered in foam and fabric. Designed and introduced in 1960, these chairs continue to command prominence in the MCM furnishing realm, and are sought out world-wide for their whimsical originality.
