Here are a pair of original Artifort Orange Slice Chairs designed by Pierre Paulin with their distinctive nubby upholstery, and metal tags attached to both chairs and matching footstools. Two identical &#34;slices&#34; make up the seat and backrest of each chair.
The 4-legged steel base on each piece is finished in chrome. All pieces labeled.  Note: minor wear and fading to one chair and stool. 
In 1958 Pierre Paulin became the designer for Artifort where he created a series of sculptural chairs with an inner structure of steel tubing, covered in foam and fabric. Designed and introduced in 1960, these chairs continue to command prominence in the MCM furnishing realm, and are sought out world-wide for their whimsical originality.

Hand-knotted Iranian Rug 

An impressive bronze rendition of the sculpture titled The Kiss (Le Baiser) or Nymph and Faun, created by the French sculptor Aime-Jules Dalou between 1890 and 1894, this one signed A. Carrier. Inspired by ancient mythology, depicting a faun embracing and kissing a nymph - a moment of intimacy and desire, blurring the boundaries between the mythological figures. It is known from several editions cast in bronze. The original plaster version is housed in the Petit Palais in Paris. 
Note the signature: French sculptor Albert-Ernest Carrier-Belleuse (A. Carrier) used two primary signatures for his work, with the signature changing over the course of his career: Before 1868: He signed his work simply as &#34;Carrier&#34; or &#34;A. Carrier&#34;, as noted on this piece, matching the capitalized script found on his other sold items.  (see pictures)

According to artnet, Albert Ernest Carrier-Belleuse was a French sculptor who had a considerable artistic impact on many young artists, most notably Auguste Rodin, 
who created the iconic, entwined couple The Kiss (Le Baiser), with first small versions in the 1880s, and the monumental marble commissioned in 1888, executed by Jean Turcan.

Albert Ernest Carrier-Belleuse was known for his Neoclassical, realist terra cotta sculptures frequently depicting women in historic roles. Born on June 12, 1824 in Anizy-le-Château, France, Carrier-Belleuse trained as a goldsmith&#39;s apprentice before attending the École des Beaux-Arts and working for the medallist David d’Angers. Working between England, Brussels, and Paris, the artist founded the Parisian Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts, and is notable for employing celebrated Modernist Auguste Rodin as his apprentice. Before his death on June 4, 1887 in Sevres, France, Carrier-Belleuse was awarded the title of officer of the Legion of Honour.  He began his career at 13 with an apprenticeship under Bauchery, a Parisian ciseleur, or chiseler. He began to receive accolades for his fine art sculptures after 10 years of showing his works. Among Albert Ernest Carrier Belleuse&#39;s sculptures and artwork for sale that received critical acclaim is the Messiah, which earned him a Medal of Honor and the cross of the Legion d&#39;Honneur.

Carrier Belleuse was entrepreneurial and often sold his sculptures directly through auctions and his own studio. He was instrumental in elevating the stature of applied arts and noted for his ornamental art designs. This work appears in good condition with the exception of small spattered wax drops, easily removable. Base appears to be marble or granite w/steel rod armature.

Antique Quartersawn Oak Cabinet

Wide-eyed foo lions sport curled, spiked tails, fangs and fat tongues. A ruff surrounds the necks, while spurs protrude from their feet. This pair hails from Thailand, where they are known as singha, and is covered with glazed ceramic inlays, over plaster bodies. Foo lions have a long history of guarding palaces and temples, and are often seen at either side of an entry, serving as a boundary between the profane outer world and the interior sacred space. Ceramic Foo Lions

A collection of small buddhas includes an amber resin buddha sitting atop a detailed, cast-brass base, hands folded in peaceful awareness, while a small protuberance on his forehead symbolizes the attainment of wisdom at the time of enlightenment; a small black resin buddha holding a 1st century Tibetan coin, according to the label on the underside; and a trio of wooden buddhas on ornate carved stands that terminate in lotus petals. Each buddha is seated on his platform in full lotus position, and each holds a different pose: one holds an alms bowl in one hand while his other hand reaches down toward the earth; one holds a small pagoda in one hand while the other also reaches toward the earth; and one has hands folded in the dhyana mudra gesture of meditation. Skillfully carved and highly polished, wood unknown.

Antique Wooden Dough Bowl

Exceptional detailed imagery and workmanship on this Satsuma fishbowl, with plenty of gilding and fine raised slip. Alternate panels adorn each half - on one, two women attend to a younger woman, all in ceremonial garb, perhaps readying for a wedding?  They stand amid a lush landscape of cherry blossoms in full bloom and under a large jade-colored parasol.  The iconic Japanese mountains and sea frame the backdrop. Two other men stand off to the side, looking on, also in extreme finery.  The &#34;back&#34; panel is bordered by a gold ribbon and features multitudes of flowers, mostly lotus and chrysanthemums, swirling through a blue-black background.  This pattern continues on the upper lip of the bowl.  Underside of the pronounced rim is a decorative geometric pattern. Interior of the bowl has images of Koi swimming happily through underwater vegetation.  Note: Shadowy discoloration to one area of inner bowl.  Offered here with an 8&#34;W Chinese rosewood plant stand. Small glazed blue  &#34;N&#34; on the base probably indicates it&#39;s exportware from Nippon.

Brass Bonanza

An odd but charming couple. The original watercolor of the goldfinch is signed by artist Milo(?) Calder, and matted and framed in wood and gilt frame. The great blue heron is a full-color lithograph, after the original Plate 211 from John James Audubon&#39;s &#34;Birds of America,&#34; a multi-decade and monumental undertaking, which resulted in over 700 species in 435 plates. Matted and framed under glass, with a simple wood frame brushed with heron-blue paint. Some foxing to the print and matte.

Letter Openers

Full color lithograph of a 1663 Dutch map of England. The original hand-colored versions were published in 1635 in Amsterdam, drawn by the Blaeu family cartography firm. The Blaeus--father and sons--were cartographers and publishers, with the Dutch East India Company being just one of their commissions. At one time they ran the largest printing house in Europe, and also produced globes. A fire, which destroyed their printing plates, forced its closure in 1672. This highly detailed map of England and Wales, with hints of Scotland and Ireland, shows counties, cities and town, rivers, islands and coastal points of interest. The coat of arms for England is at the upper right, and below it a cartouche holding the title Anglia Regnum. In the lower right corner we see a small scale indicator flanked by two lambs and a cherub. Matted in a simple black wooden frame.

Dutch Map of England

Full color lithograph map of the heavens, with the astrological symbols of October through March cavorting along with various other constellations. The piece appears to be a plate from a book, with a slight crease dividing the two images. The original engraving was made by W.G. Evans in approximately 1833, &#34;under the direction of E.H. Burritt.&#34; Burritt was an astronomer and mathematician, and together the two men produced an atlas titled &#34;The Geography of the Heavens.&#34; Burritt was known variously as &#34;the forgotten astronomer,&#34; and &#34;the Carl Sagan of his day,&#34; and came to astronomy after working as a blacksmith. The atlas consisted of eight charts, which illustrated the heavens both seasonally and by hemispheres. This reproduction is from Janus Publications of the Wichita Omnisphere, which closed in 2001, dating this to the late 1990s, most likely. Matted and framed, very good condition.

Vintage Chinese hand-painted wooden barrel

This lidded bentwood drum is embellished with the heads of lions, alternating with two cartouches containing figures which may represent an emperor and empress, and possibly a demon. All are in relief, and hand-painted in crimson and gold over ebonized wood. Metal banding and decorative studs at top and bottom, with a lift-out lid. All have subtle flower petals scattered over the black background. Hand-painted numerals 26 on bottom. Some areas of missing relief pieces, overall wear commensurate with age.
