In 2006, she was inducted into The Royal Canadian Academy of Arts. Judy Singer also taught painting, drawing and art history at York University from 1976 to 2005. She continues to impart her passion for art through her lectures and workshops.

In 1974, towards the end of her fourth year at York University’s Fine Arts programme, Judy Singer was discovered by the late Jack Pollock, one of Toronto’s foremost gallery owners of the times. From this first show at the Pollock Gallery, she has gone on to show in many solo and group exhibitions across Canada and the United States.
Most notably, Singer was chosen in 1982 to represent Canada at the Carnegie International in Pittsburgh. In 2006, she was inducted into The Royal Canadian Academy of Arts.
Over the years, she has forged strong collegial relationships with many luminaries in the art world; fellow artists Sir Anthony Caro, Helen Frankenthaler, and Larry Poons who critiqued her work at The Triangle Workshop in 1983 and prominent critics Ken Carpenter, the late Clement Greenberg, Karen Wilkin, Kenworth Moffett, and Joan Murray who have all been regular visitors to her studio.
Judy Singer also taught painting, drawing and art history at York University from 1976 to 2005. Judy continues to paint and exhibit her fantastic artwork.

&#34;Bondage&#34; is a famous Orientalist painting by the British artist Ernest Normand, created in approximately 1895. The large oil on canvas depicts a scene of slave traders presenting a group of nude and semi-nude female slaves to a sultan or pharaoh in an ancient Egyptian or harem setting


A century ago today, the artist Ernest Normand (1857-1923) died. For once, he has faded from the history of art in favour of the achievements of his wife, Henrietta Rae (1859–1928). Perhaps we should refer to him merely as Henrietta Rae’s husband?

Normand trained at the Royal Academy Schools in London, where he met Rae, a fellow student, who had fought her way into training there after applying at least five times. They married in 1884, but quite unconventionally for the day she chose to keep her maiden name. The couple set up studios in their house in Holland Park in London, then a focus for artists including Frederic, Lord Leighton, Sir John Everett Millais, Val Prinsep, and George Frederic Watts.



In 1890, Rae and Normand went to Paris, where they studied at the Académie Julian, under Jules Lefebvre and Benjamin-Constant.

He was initially his father&#39;s pupil. He studied first at the technical school in Ghent and later at the Academy in the same city. After his studies, he initially worked in various religious art workshops, following in his father&#39;s footsteps. The distinction between the works of father and son sometimes arises, as with the war memorial on the wall of the Filature du Rabot in Ghent. He also created his own creations. For example, he created a bronze &#34;Saint Michael in armor crushing the dragon&#34; on the Saint Michael Bridge in Ghent. He also designed church and funerary statues, which are mainly scattered throughout northern France. After the First World War, he established himself as a freelance sculptor in the Van Akenstraat in Ghent.
