Lot #162: 73/74 One & Two Dollar Bills

The note is part of the 1973 series of Canadian banknotes. The one dollar note features a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II on the front. The reverse side depicts Parliament Hill and the city of Ottawa from the Ottawa River, including the tugboat Missinaibi. It was the last one-dollar note issued by the Bank of Canada, as it was replaced by a coin in 1987. This is a 1974 Bank of Canada 2 banknote from the "Scenes of Canada" series. The front features a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. The back features an Inuit hunting scene. The serial number prefix "ARE" indicates it is a replacement note.
