Signed W. Soney.  William Soney.  Born 1875 and died 1972.   This picture was painted in Oct. 1958.  It was painted in Walpole Island which is a First Nations reserve at the mouth of the St. Clair River in southern Ontario.  The Ojibwe, Chippewa, Potawatomi, and Odawa peoples have occupied the area for 1000&#39;s of years.  The artist lived there until he passed.  He was partially blind and when he was much older, his eyesight was restored and he could continue painting.  This picture depicts quiet life in the forests of Walpole Island.  Painted on Canvas board with a 2 1/2&#34; wooden frame.  What a lovely piece of 1st nations history.

Vintage African Hand Made Clay and Leather Drums

INCREDIBLE hand beading over hand carved wooden vessel.  Has a removable stopper lid.  Hand carved wooden vessel totally covered with beads and fringe.  Green, red and white.  It reinforced with leather straps underneath.  ALL beadwork on the vessel is in tact except for one strap at the back.  Seems to be missing beads but maybe not.  I&#39;m not quite sure of how it works or what it was used for.   It has a beaded handle and round &#39;locking&#34; strap as shown in the 14th picture.  It surrounds the lid.  Underneath the lid is a brand name container indicating African.  See pictures.  Truly an amazing piece.  It measures 18&#34; tall 7&#34; wide.
