This authentic Soviet-era plucked string instrument was manufactured in 1973 at the renowned Lunacharsky Factory of Folk (Plucked) Musical Instruments in Leningrad, USSR—one of the most important state-run instrument makers of the Soviet period. The original internal factory label remains intact and clearly legible, confirming: • Article No. 318 • Original retail price: 8 rubles • Year of production: 1973 • Factory address: 15 Chapaeva Street, Leningrad The instrument presents well overall. There are two very small, stable surface cracks on the front face, consistent with age and natural wood movement. These are purely cosmetic, do not affect playability, tuning stability, or sound, and the instrument remains structurally solid with a clear, resonant tone. Instruments from the Lunacharsky Factory were produced under strict state standards and supplied throughout the Soviet Union for music schools, cultural houses, and professional folk ensembles. Today, surviving examples with original labels are increasingly scarce and sought after by collectors of Cold War memorabilia, Soviet musical instruments, and Eastern European folk traditions. This piece offers both a warm tonal character typical of Soviet folk instruments and strong historical presence—an artifact from a closed industrial system where craftsmanship, utility, and cultural identity intersect. Ideal for: • Collectors of Soviet or Cold War artifacts • Folk musicians seeking authentic Eastern European instruments • Display in music studios, galleries, or curated collections A documented and honest example of Soviet musical history—equally compelling as a playable instrument or curated display piece. The instrument has two small cracks on the face, but still is very favourable and has great sound Pickup category timeslot {A}
