Lot #9: Vintage 1960s Rainstick

Starting bidding

$1.00

Time Remaining:

Bidding starts in 0d 2h 53m

This 1960s rainstick belonged to our father. This rainstick was made by artisans of the Andes Mountain area from dead/dried cactus. The thorns are pressed into the hollow cactus tube, which is then filled with pebbles. When the rainstick is turned on its end, the pebbles cascade over and down through the thorns, creating the sound of gently falling raindrops. The original paperwork is provided, explaining the history and process of making the rainstick. It is about 20 inches long.  *Be aware of the edges of the cactus thorn ends; since they were broken off the cactus before the sharp end was pressed inside, they can still be a bit prickly. Wear consistent with age, display and storage.  Pickup category timeslot {A}
