Lot #65: Asian Floral Porcelain Pieces

Lovely examples of hand-painted vessels and plates, from Japan and China. Two small decorative plates, with brightly colored chrysanthemums and other florals, one encased in brass with tab for hanging, the other in unknown metal; one is inked Japanese Porcelain Ware Decorated in Hong Kong T.F.F on reverse, the other inked Made in China For Decorative Use. Two cream-colored crackle glaze pieces, one an urn with slightly flared foot, the other a hexagonal vase with bulbous shoulders and flared foot, both decorated on one side with peacocks perched amidst chrysanthemums, peonies and other flowers, and inked with Japanese characters on their bottoms. The urn has an MCI Japan decal; the vase a decal saying OMC Japan (Otagiri Mercantile Company), and both likely date to the mid or later 1900s. A cylindrical vase in dark cobalt with gold-banded lip, with a quizzical pheasant flanked by pink roses, inked Kutani on the glazed recessed bottom. Finally, a vase with exotic birds and florals on a black ground, encased in brass with brass lip and footed base, stamped China. Two small areas of damage, almost invisible in the pattern, as shown.
