During one outing they spot Zenia, who they thought to be long-dead. The plot then travels back in time to explain how Zenia stole, one by one, their respective partners. 2) The Year of the Flood (2009) is the second book in the dystopian MaddAddam trilogy. The story is set in a post-apocalyptic world where a biological catastrophe has led to the extinction of most human life. The novel follows the lives of two survivors, Toby and Ren, as they navigate the aftermath of the pandemic. They are members of a religious sect called God's Gardeners, which combines Biblical practices with scientific beliefs. 3) Hag-Seed (2016) is a retelling of Shakespeare's The Tempest.
