The Beatles - The Deccagone Sessions - Smilin’ Ears 7701 Tracks 1-4,6,9-12 from the Decca sessions January 1, 1962. Track 5 recorded Nov. 26, 1962, tracks 7-8, 15-17 BBC radio broadcast November 1962, Track 14 recorded at the Cavern October 13,1962, Track 13 Top Of The Pops September 19,1968. These records are all from my personal collection and may contain live versions of released songs, unreleased songs, demo versions of well known songs, studio banter between group members etc. In some instances the quality of the source material is poor and that is reflected in the recording. These LPs were very difficult to find and were only sold in select independent record shops. First issues (1970s) were simply a white cover with a photocopy picture of the Beatles slipped under the shrink wrap. This photocopy would generally have the song titles printed on it and not much more than that. The record labels of these early issues are often blank or have a picture label associated with the maker of the Lp. These unofficial pressings were highly collectible as they gave the listener an opportunity to hear something totally different from their favourite artists. By the early 1980s the quality of the records improved and most were issued in laminated covers with printed record labels although a fair amount of records still had blank labels. Some argue that these covers were better than the official record company releases. The records being auctioned here cover the short span of the Beatles recording career.
