Large Parian porcelain figurine of a man after the hunt, designed and sculpted by Christian Warth (1836-1890) for Villeroy & Boch. Slipcast sculpture made from Parian porcelain, designed to imitate carved marble. Signed C Warth. The sculpture is damaged with missing firearm. See photos. Sold in 'as is' condition. Measures: 20 1/2" high More information from the Instagram page of The American Museum of Ceramics: Parian wares were produced at V&B’s Mettlach facility from the 1860s through the 1880s; they were discontinued for unknown reasons. Christian Warth’s involvement in V&B’s Mettlach facility runs deep -- he was directly responsible for the introduction of Chromolith style wares, designing etched scenes with his unmistakable drawing style, and being the sculptor of V&B Parian ware porcelain statuettes. The 1867 World Exposition in Paris featured nine of Christian Warth’s Parian statuettes. MIKA: Condition as seen in photos.
