from the Cowichan Tribes, a Coast Salish
First Nation on Vancouver Is., BC.
• Cowichan sweaters are hand-knit from
natural, hand-spun, un-dyed virgin
sheep&#39;s wool, which gives them natural
water resistance and durability.
• The eagle motif on the front and back
represents strength, power, and wisdom.
• The border and the sleeves have the
repeating &#34;hearts and flowers&#34; or &#34;vine&#39;
and leaf&#34; patterns.
• This sweater does not have a tag, and
is more tightly woven then more modern
sweaters, which indicates it was most
likely made between 1960&#39;s to late
1970&#39;s, and was sold directly from the
knitter to the customer, rather than going
through a store outlet.

• I have not been able to find a record of
this artist, but have the following
information
• The Inuit symbolics translate to either
(Tukaiku or Tukaruitu).
• There is also a number on the reverse,
(104571) which means this piece was
made on or before 1971, when the Gov&#39;t.
of Canada gave each artist for recording,
and stopped doing after that date.
• From Wikipedia:
Sedna (Inuktitut, romanized: Sanna,
previously Sedna or Sidne) is the
goddess of the sea and marine animals
in Inuit religion, also known as the
Mother of the Sea or Mistress of the Sea.
The story of Sedna, which is a creation
myth, describes how she came to rule
over Adlivun, the Inuit equivalent of the
underworld. In sculptures, Sedna is often
depicted with the head and upper body
of a woman and the tail of a marine
mammal, similar to a mermaid.

• Originally designed by René Lalique in
1935, the bottle features a double frosted
glass flower design with etched petals
and a clear glass stopper with a
decorative, textured pattern. &#34;Deux Fleurs&#34;
&#39; was a perfume that was discontinued by Lalique, 
but the design of the bottle continued until the 1990&#39;s.
• This piece is signed Lalique France with
their &#34;R&#34; in a circle for registered.

cracks, however there is a chip on one
side of the lip. The stopper is in

• BOMA stands for the Building Owners
and Managers Association, and the
organization acknowledges its location
on traditional First Nations territory as
part of its public stance on reconciliation
and respect for Indigenous peoples, as
indicated by its land acknowledgments
and educational initiatives, so various
items were produced.
• Corinne Hunt who designed this piece
was born Alert Bay, British Columbia in
1959 into a family rich in artist heritage.
Immediate family members include
renowned artists Henry, Richard and
Tony Hunt. All of whom have influenced
her art. Corrine&#39;s uncle, Norman
Brotchie, also acted as teacher and
mentor.
• The &#34;Sea to Sky&#34; collection, which
features artwork like the &#34;Wolf and Peace
in Family&#34; piece, were created around
2010. This one has a Coast Hotels logo

• This piece is not signed, but most jade
cavings come from the Haida, Kwakiutl,
or a Coast Salish Nation.
• Owl totems generally represent
wisdom, intuition, foresight, or
messengers between worlds.
• British Columbia is a major source of
nephrite jade, often referred to by the
Indigenous words &#34;squa&#34; and &#34;lisht&#34; in
some areas. This green stone has been
used by B.C. native peoples for carving
for at least 3000 years.

• Ms. Annie Scott is one of those people.
Known as a Sweetgrass Lady from
Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, USA.
• Sweetgrass basket making has been a
part of the Charleston coastal community
of Mount Pleasant for more than 300
years. Introduced by the slaves that
were brought here from West Africa, and
the weavers are referred to as Gullah
families in South Carolina&#39;s Low country
region.

stripes of light and dark woods, maple,
walnut, and I believe the reddish wood I
believe is mahogany Sapele (Sapelli).
• The cutting board is used, and does

and refinished the wood with mineral oil.
• The board uses edge-grain
construction, where the long, side edges
of the wood form the cutting surface.

• Meg Buckley (1931 - 2020)
• Meg immigrated to Canada in 1956,
settling in Port Alberni from the UK.
• She took pottery classes at the UBC
Pottery Huts in 1961/62, (John Reeve,
Hilda Ross) while working as a nurse.
• She moved to Saltspring Island in 1980,
making reliable and handsome pottery
until she was 80 years old.
• She was very influenced by the idea of
the Leach tradition of making simple
functional pottery, and being the &#39;village&#39;
potter serving a community.
• Iron rich stoneware clay, with a semi-
matte white speckled glaze. stem and
leaf design. Cone 10 gas fired. Made
between 1970 and 1980.

Decorative Egg
• This piece dates to 1880 to 1910 and
was made in China. They produced
copies of the Japanese Satsuma eggs.
• They used porcelain rather than
earthenware clay, so there is a smooth
glossy glaze rather than the &#34;crackle&#34;
glaze of Japanese earthenware Satsuma.
• Made of porcelain, featuring hand-
painted details with heavy gold gilding
and raised enamel work (moriage).
• The raised, textured details are created
using enamels in a fourth and separate
kiln firing called the moriage technique.
• The intricate design depicts geisha
women with parasols in a garden or
landscape motif. With a cherry tree in
bloom, geese flying in the sky, and
mountains in the background.

Rachelle Chinnery arrived in BC from
Ontario in 1996, and now live on Hornby
Island.
• She was tutored by Japanese potters in

• Rachelle is renowned for her sculptural

translucent carved porcelain pottery. Her

• Fu Xing, one of the three Chinese
deities known as Fu Lu Shou (also
Sanxing).
• He is typically depicted as a scholar
holding a scroll, which in this case can
be seen in his left arm. The scroll
signifies wealth or blessings.
• This figurine was made in the mid-20th
century, dating from 1950 to the 1970.
This piece has been decorated first with
&#34;stencil&#34; outlines, and then hand painted
with enamels. Then a fourth firing for the
22 carat gold overlays.
• The bottom still retains remnants of kiln
shelf

was assayed in Birmingham, England.
• The &#34;CM&#34; likely represents the maker&#39;s
mark, possibly Cornelius Marsh.
• The lion passant confirms the use of
sterling silver 92.5% pure silver.
• Town/Assay Office Mark (Anchor): An
anchor symbol is the traditional mark for
the Birmingham Assay Office, where the
silver was tested for purity.
• Date Letter (Z in a square cartouche):
This letter indicates the specific year the
item was assayed. For Birmingham silver,
the letter &#34;Z&#34; in this specific style and
cartouche corresponds to the year 1874.

Hand Painted Limoges Fish Plate
• This plate features a detailed, hand-
painted fish motif with a background of
swirling water and aquatic plants. It has
a scalloped or molded rim, highlighted
with gold gilding.
• The fish depicted on the plate is a
freshwater fish species; a trout, salmon,
perch, or carp.
• The image displays the manufacturer&#39;s
mark for A. Klingenberg (AK) porcelain
from Limoges, France. The mark &#34;AK
France&#34; with a &#39;D&#39; inside the A was used
by the factory between approximately
1890 and 1910. The &#39;D&#39; stands for
Dwenger, as A. Klingenberg partnered
with Charles Dwenger to produce high-
quality porcelain.
• This piece is signed &#34;Golse&#34; or &#34;Golsp&#34;
but I have not been able to find the
artists full name.
• In excellent condition, no breaks,
