Lot #399: Akira “Toy Camera” and Pentax SLR Film Camera

This is an Akira 7000VT film camera and belongs to a category often nicknamed "Toy SLRs" or "Scam Cameras." They were common in the 1990s and early 2000s. While it is styled to look like a high-end camera, it is actually a very simple point-and-shoot. The lens is made of plastic, and the viewfinder is a simple see through window. Interestingly, these cameras often have lead weights taped inside the plastic shell just to make them feel heavier and more "expensive" to the consumer. The flash is a bracket-mounted external flash designed to mimic the look of professional press photography gear. This camera is great if you enjoy Lomography or the "aesthetic" of lo-fi, grainy, and slightly soft vintage film photos, this camera can be a lot of fun. Untested.
