CBE Awarded to George Stephen, First Canadian Elevated to Peerage in UK

Large Sampson And Matthews &#34;Mist Fantasy&#34; by James Edward Hervey Macdonald 1930. &#34;Mist Fantasy&#34; is a renowned artwork by the Canadian artist James Edward Hervey (J.E.H.) MacDonald, a founding member of the Group of Seven. This is a high-quality silkscreen print of this painting produced by Sampson-Matthews Ltd. 
J.E.H. MacDonald created the original oil painting, titled &#34;Mist Fantasy, Northland,&#34; in 1922, based on sketches from the Algoma region.  
From the 1940s to the 1960s, Sampson-Matthews Ltd. produced numerous silkscreen prints of iconic Canadian art, including &#34;Mist Fantasy,&#34; as part of a program to boost national morale and identity. These prints were created using a sophisticated silkscreen process with multiple oil colors to ensure brilliance and lasting qualities.  The original painting is considered an icon of Canadian Art and is held in the collection of the Art Gallery of Ontario. The Sampson-Matthews prints themselves are valued as significant works that helped popularize Canadian art.
