Lot #204: Cast Iron Antique Fruit and Lard Press

Starting bidding

$1.00

Time Remaining:

Bidding starts in 0d 4h 4m

Presses such this were widely used in the 19th and early 20th centuries. Their uses included rendering and straining lard after butchering, making fruit juices or jellies or even pressing sausage or cheese. The press operates with a turnscrew mechanism. The top wheel can be turned, forcing the heavy plunger disk down into a perforated inner cylinder. By squeezing the contents the liquids were strained through and the solids retained. Can be disassembled. The top wheel does turn; we had it screwed all the way out and all the way in. Rusty throughout. Dimensions: Approx. 11" wide, 10" deep & variable height, shown at 17" Pickup category timeslot {A}
