During a storage locker clean out, I found wrapped in a box a striking example of mid-century "mod" luxury, this vintage Royal Minke by Hillmoor coat offers the glamorous aesthetic of genuine mink with the durability and ethical appeal of high-end faux fur. Produced for Madigan, a premier Chicago-based department store known for its sophisticated outerwear collections, circa 1960s – 1970s, this piece features a rich, deep mahogany-brown pile with a realistic sheen. The coat is designed with a classic mid-length silhouette, featuring a wide notched lapel collar and a subtle horizontal "tiered" construction that replicates the look of individual fur pelts. The coat for having been used, appears to have been well taken care of. The interior is fully lined in a coordinated chocolate brown satin-finish fabric.
