Lot #53: Rare 1910 "A Steal" Baseball Romance Postcard

During a storage locker clean out, I found in a desk a charming and highly collectible 1910 original baseball-themed postcard titled "A Steal." Part of the sought-after "Baseball Lovers" series (cataloged as PC798-9), this card features a romantic and humorous take on the game. The image depicts a male player in a dark uniform "stealing" a kiss from a female player in a light "M. WOOD" jersey as she slides into a base. The postcard features a clear, circular date stamp from West Mansfield, Ohio, dated August 12, 1910, has an original green 1-cent George Washington stamp, and the sepia-toned photograph remains sharp with excellent contrast. The typography for "A STEAL" is clear and centered. The card appears well-preserved with minor corner wear consistent with its 115-year age. It is currently displayed in a protective, four-screw acrylic holder which comes with the postcard to ensure the postcard is protected and secure. This postcard is highly prized by both sports memorabilia collectors and deltiologists (postcard collectors) for their unique subject matter and social history.
