Lot #56: Original Rick Griffin Psychedelic Fillmore Era "Medicine Show" Rock Concert Poster, First Printing, Charlantans & Jook Savages, 1967, AOR 2.300

Here we have a special item! A vintage and original "Medicine Show," first print poster, by famed rock poster artist (and member of the Big Five rock poster artists) Rick Griffin (1944-1991)! The show featured a concert at the Irwin Street Warehouse in San Rafael, CA, on May 12-13, 1967, starring The Charlatans and The Jook Savages. The poster was printed by Berkeley Bonaparte, a company founded by the Big Five rock poster artists: Rick Griffin, Stanley Mouse, Alton Kelley, Wes Wilson, and Victor Moscoso in 1967, to print rock concert and other counterculture posters. The poster is also featured in the book, "The Art of Rock: Posters from Presley to Punk" AOR 2.300, page 221. There was only a single printing of this poster. The poster measures approximately 14" x 20" and is in fine condition. There is some discoloration at the upper right and left hand corners (please see pictures). There is some very slight softening at the corners so that I cannot grade it higher. But still a very nice copy which would frame up beautifully. This poster has been stored flat for decades.
