Frame 25.75" x 20.5" painting 17" x 12.25" Graham Noble Norwell (1901–1967, Edinburgh, Scotland) emigrated to Canada in 1914 and studied at the Ontario College of Art under Arthur Lismer, George Reid, J.W. Beatty, and Robert Holmes. Further training in London and Paris, including study with Augustus John, deepened his approach to colour and atmosphere.https://www.waddingtons.ca/search/norwell?search_sortprice Born in Edinburgh, Scotland in 1901, Graham Noble Norwell emigrated to Canada in 1914 with his family, settling in Kingston, Ontario after a short initial stay in Montreal. In 1920, Norwell studied under Arthur Lismer, George Reid, J.W. Beatty and Robert Holmes at the Ontario College of Art before traveling overseas to London and Paris to continue his art studies before returning to Canada and setting in Ottawa. Working in oil and watercolour, the artist is best known for his depictions of Laurentian winter landscapes often including rural villages and cottages. The artist exhibited with the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts in 1921-1943 and the Art Association of Montreal in 1922-1943.
