1951 Canadian Nickel (5-cent piece) featuring King George VI. This was a notable year for Canadian coinage due to a shift in materials. Coin Specifications & History Monarch: King George VI Composition: Steel (Nickel-plated) Design: The reverse features the iconic beaver design by G.E. Kruger-Gray. Shape: 12-sided (tombac/steel shape used from 1942–1962 to help distinguish it from the penny in low light).
