These are dated 1970, 1971, 1979 vintage United Kingdom "Five New Pence" coin, first issued in 1968 to prepare for decimalization. It features the badge of Scotland, a crowned thistle, designed by Christopher Ironside. The coin is made of copper-nickel and weighs 5.65 grams. It replaced the pre-decimal one shilling coin.
