Lot #187: 2 Vintage Japanese Celadon Porcelain "Shrimp" Bowls"

Starting bidding

$1.00

Time Remaining:

Bidding starts in 0d 3h 38m

2 Vintage Japanese Celadon Porcelain "Shrimp" Bowls" • Hand-painted with gold, rusty red, and green accents. The 3-D form of the porcelain dish shows bamboo stalks, and the painted sections represent the leaves. • There are two Japanese field workers wearing the traditional suge-gasa conical straw hat, and wide sleeves. • Based on the mark's style and the celadon glaze of the dish, the seal likely reads "Yamatoku Zö" (Made by Yamatoku) or a similar regional maker active during the late Meiji to early Showa era (c. 1890-1930's). • Yamatoku (LL*): This was a prominent producer of export and domestic porcelain in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, known for using impressed seals of this exact rectangular shape and orientation within an oval stamp. • The Top Character: Represents the specific name of the kiln or the artist. While partially obscured is either the Seto or Arita characters. • The Bottom Character: "E" (Zö or Tsukur), translates directly to "Made" or "Produced". • The absence of "Nippon" or "Japan" in English suggests these were produced for the Japanese domestic market. • In very good condition, no breaks, or cracks. One has a minor chip on the lip. View images. • 4.7 cm x 12 cm. x 10.5 cm. Dimensions: 4.7 cm x 12 cm. x 10.5 cm. Pickup category timeslot {A}
