Two Korean "Cheongja" Celadon Art Pottery Pieces ----------------------------------------------- 1) Ceramic Flower Frog - Ikebana The "frog" features inlaid and incised patterns of Korean traditional floral and cranes in flight motifs. This is a reddish stoneware fired to cone 10 in a gas kiln with a celadon crackle glaze. This "frog" is signed by the artist, and also has a chop mark of a flower design. In excellent condition, no breaks, cracks, or chips. View images. • 5.5 cm. x 9 cm. x 9 cm --------------------------------------------- 2) Celadon Incense Burner The style of this piece is called "Cheongja", known for its jade-green glaze. This incense burner also has the added blue from cobalt oxide. There are two incised cranes in flight carved through the blue which then becomes "sky". The upper bowl is filled with sand for the incense, and the lower dish form collects the ash from the incense. The potter has signed the piece on the base. In excellent condition, no breaks, or cracks, but some chips on the foot from the firing process. View images. • 8 cm. x 10.5 cm. x 10.5 cm.
