Lot #94: Rare ORIGINAL Antique Reverse Painting

This is an unusual example of reverse painting on glass, meaning that the artist painted onto the glass itself from behind. It appears to be quite old and is not signed that I can see. The subject matter is European and looks to be a castle and its surroundings. It's quite primitive and likely done by someone who was a part-time starving artist . There is mother of pearl (or similar in appearance) mixed into the paint for highlights. In the center of the castle tower some of the paint has peeled a little bit. The frame is very old, wooden and in good condition. It's hard to take good photos of a framed painting under glass without crazy reflections, so I hope the ones I've posted get the point across.
