The star of the pair is a Chinese cloisonné enamel turtle trinket box — a beautifully crafted piece in the traditional cloisonné technique, featuring a hinged shell lid decorated with a bold geometric panel pattern in turquoise and cobalt blue with gilt wire outlines, and a striking concentric bullseye design at the crown in red, yellow and green. The body, head and legs are rendered in a fine blue fish-scale cloisonné pattern. The underside shows a turquoise enamel base with gilt brass feet and floral border detail. The interior is lined in teal green enamel. A quality example of Chinese export cloisonné, likely mid-20th century. The companion piece is a small Feng Shui resin turtle figurine in deep burgundy/oxblood, with finely detailed shell scutes and clawed feet.
