Herkimer Diamonds are not diamonds at all, but small double-terminated quartz crystals named for Herkimer County, New York, where they are found. Double-terminated crystals of quartz are fairly rare, and these pieces are quite collectable. The crystals formed in small hollows in the Little Falls Dolostone, a formation some 500 million years old.

The Pobeda brand emerged in 1946 and was produced by various Soviet watch factories, including the First Moscow Watch Factory (1MWF).  The Sturmanskie watch used a movement based on the Pobeda design and was produced under the Pobeda name for a period.
