Lot #91: Rare Antique Imperial Bushel Brass Grain Scale Measure

Starting bidding

$1.00

Time Remaining:

Bidding starts in 0d 0h 44m

Offered is a significant piece of agricultural and industrial history: an Antique Brass Grain Scale Bucket. This heavy-gauge measure was a precision instrument used during the 19th and early 20th centuries to standardize the trade of grains such as wheat, oats, and barley. The body features deep, crisp engravings indicating its official capacity: "1/32 IMPERIAL BUSHEL." Below the capacity, the bucket bears several official verification stamps (including a "crown" mark and the number "26"), which served as a seal of accuracy by weights and measures inspectors of the era. Key Features: Capacity: 1/32 Imperial Bushel. Material: Solid, heavy-cast brass with a beautiful aged patina. Construction: Features a sturdy, original brass swing handle with a central hanging loop for attachment to a balance scale. Condition: Excellent antique condition. It retains its original shape with no major dents or repairs. The surface shows a deep, authentic oxidation consistent with age and historical use. Provenance: Often associated with major 19th-century manufacturers like W. & J.G. Greey or Fairbanks. Pickup category timeslot {A}
