-Location: The excavations took place in the municipality of Oton, in the early 20th century, which is one of the oldest towns in the province of Iloilo; -Significant Finds: The "diggings" uncovered various artifacts, including Chinese ceramics, gold ornaments, and burial jars, indicating that Oton was a thriving center for trade and settlement long before Spanish colonization; -Historical Context: These findings link the Visayan region to a vast maritime trading network that included China and neighboring Southeast Asian kingdoms; -There is evidence to support the view that the Philippine Archipelago was part "of successive Hindu-Malayan empires in Indo-China, Sumatra and Borneo". The Japanese empire of Madjapahit took over the year 1405 or during the reign of the Ming Emperor, Yung Lo in China.
