Step back into the roaring twenties with this collection of Collier’s The National Weekly. These magazines were the premier source for short stories, serialised novels, and striking period illustrations. This lot is particularly interesting for collectors of vintage advertising and "flapper-era" cover art. Included in this lot: April 30, 1927: Featuring "The Horseshoe Nails" by George Weston and "Here’s Witwer again!" with iconic cover art by Ruth Eastman. June 4, 1927: Features stories by Laurence Stallings and Elmer Davis, with a classic cover illustration of a stern policeman and children at a fruit stand. August 6, 1927: Features "Crawl Out of It" by H.I. Phillips and more from the Witwer series, with a humorous summer-themed cover. February 18, 1928: Includes a massive historical advertisement for the Encyclopaedia Britannica 160th Anniversary Sale. These magazines are in "as-found" vintage condition. They show significant signs of age, including tattering and small tears along the edges, some foxing (age spots), and natural yellowing of the newsprint.
