Vintage 1932 USA Postal Cover - Cachet Stamp with picture of bi-plane flying over Pioneer Settlers with cornucopia, celebrating "200th Birthday Celebration of the first settlement of the Shenadoah Valley of Virginia, September 3, 4, 5, 1932." Cachet cover "sponsored by the Harrisonburg, Va.,Chamber of Commerce." Stamped with one USA five cent purple United States Postage Air Mail stamp, featuring a winged globe, and with one three cent purple "George Washington 1732-1932" stamp. Postmarked September 4, 1932, at Harrisonburg, Virginia. Addrerssed to Louis M. Parker, 3920 Elsen street, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. This 1932 Commemorative Cover is a remarkable artifact of Virginia's regional history, documenting the Bicentennial of the Shenandoah Valley's settlement. Mailed during the height of the Great Depression, it captures a unique transition in American transportation—linking the era of the pioneer settler with the modern age of commercial aviation. The Occasion was the Celebration of the Shenandoah Valley Bicentennial, held on September 3–5, 1932, the festival honored the arrival of the first permanent settlers in the valley (traditionally cited as Adam Miller and others around 1732).
