Lot #437: Two Vintage 1932 Canada One Cent Coins

Starting bidding

$1.00

Time Remaining:

Bidding starts in 0d 1h 43m

Obverse: Features the "Crowned Bust" portrait of King George V in his coronation robes, facing left. The Latin inscription reads: “GEORGIVS V DEI GRA: REX ET IND: IMP:” (“George V, by the Grace of God, King and Emperor of India”). Reverse: A symmetrical design featuring two maple leaves on a single branch. The denomination ONE CENT is arched across the top, the word CANADA at the base, and the date 1932 split on either side of the leaves. The 1932 "Small Cent" is a classic example of Depression-era coinage. Struck at the Royal Canadian Mint in Ottawa. By 1932, the Mint had just achieved its first full year of operation as a purely Canadian institution (no longer a branch of the British Royal Mint). This was the height of the Great Depression, and with a mintage of approximately 2.1 million, it is considerably harder to find than the pennies of the late 1920s or late 1930s. 1932 was a year of extreme austerity; while millions of these were minted, fewer were saved in "Uncirculated" condition compared to prosperous years. Most 1932 cents found today show heavy signs of use, as they were vital for small daily purchases during the 1930s. This lot includes two 1932 one cent coins. Dimensions: Bronze Coin. 19.05 mm. 3.24 g. Pickup category timeslot {A}
