The denomination 5 CENTS is at the top, and CANADA is at the base. The 1936 five-cent piece is a highly sought-after "pivotal" coin in Canadian history. It represents the final year of King George V’s reign and is the last year this specific reverse design (two maple leaves) was used before the transition to the iconic beaver design in 1937.
