Obverse: Features the "Second Portrait" of Queen Elizabeth II by Arnold Machin. The Queen is shown wearing the "Girls of Great Britain and Ireland" Tiara. The inscription reads ELIZABETH II D. G. REGINA. Reverse: Features a Running Rabbit (Hare), designed by Alex Colville. The date is split as 1867-1967 at the base. The denomination 5 CENTS and the word CANADA are inscribed at the top. Struck at the Royal Canadian Mint in Ottawa. The 1967 Centennial Nickel is part of the iconic Alex Colville-designed series and is widely considered one of the most beautiful circulating coins ever produced by the Royal Canadian Mint. Colville chose the rabbit to symbolize fertility, new life, and the promise of a burgeoning nation entering its second century. Dimensions: 100% Nickel. 21.21 mm. 4.54 g.
