Obverse: Features the "Fourth Portrait" of Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt. The Queen is depicted facing right, without a crown. Inscribed ELIZABETH II D. G. REGINA. Reverse: A detailed profile portrait of Tecumseh against a background of maple leaves. To the left is a selectively coloured War of 1812 logo (red-and-white stylized eagle). The inscriptions include CANADA, 25 CENTS, 1812, and TECUMSEH. Struck at the Royal Canadian Mint in Winnipeg. Specimen-like Finish with Selective "Red" Colour on the Maple Leaf. This coin honors the Shawnee chief and legendary strategist who was instrumental in the defense of Upper Canada, as part of the four-coin "Heroes of 1812" commemorative set, to commemorate the bicentennial of the War of 1812. This coin commemorates Tecumseh’s vital alliance with Major-General Sir Isaac Brock. Their partnership led to the capture of Detroit in 1812, a psychological turning point in the war. Tecumseh’s leadership of the indigenous confederacy was a mechanical necessity for the survival of the Canadian colonies during the conflict. Tecumseh was known for his oratorical skills and his vision of an independent indigenous nation. He was killed in action at the Battle of the Thames in 1813. This coin serves as a numismatic tribute to his sacrifice and military genius. This coin represents the modern Mint's expertise in high-speed selective coloring. While a non-colored version was also issued for circulation, the "Coloured" version was produced in much lower quantities and primarily distributed in collector wraps or through specific bank distributions. Dimensions: Three-ply Nickel-plated Steel. 23.88 mm. 4.4 g. Pickup category timeslot {A}
