Obverse: Features the "Fourth Portrait" of Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt. The Queen is facing right and is shown without a crown. Inscribed ELIZABETH II D. G. REGINA. Reverse: A detailed depiction of a Peregrine Falcon in profile, designed by artist Nola McConnan. The background features a field of stylized maple leaves. To the left is a selectively coloured circular logo featuring a yellow-and-green falcon emblem. The inscriptions include CANADA, 25 CENTS, and the date 2011. Yellow Selective Colour on Falcon. Struck at the Royal Canadian Mint in Winnipeg. The 2011 Peregrine Falcon quarter is part of the "Legendary Nature" series, celebrating Canada’s natural heritage and the successful recovery of this iconic bird of prey. The colored version is particularly popular for its vibrant use of yellow hues. This coin was issued to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Parks Canada Agency. The Peregrine Falcon was chosen because it represents a major conservation success story; once nearly extinct in North America due to pesticide use, it has made a remarkable comeback in Canadian skies. This was one of three coins in the "Legendary Nature" series (alongside the Wood Bison and the Orca). The colored versions were released in smaller quantities than the plain business strikes and were often found in specialized collector packs or distributed through retail partners.While a non-colored version was also issued for circulation, the "Coloured" version was produced in much lower quantities and primarily distributed in collector wraps or through specific bank distributions. Dimensions: Three-ply Nickel-plated Steel. 23.88 mm. 4.4 g. Pickup category timeslot {A}
